Day Out
Each month I try to spend a day out with a young star of the MTB world. We go every where form a dual slalom course to a trials park.
This month I spend a day out with Tim Reynolds, a young trials star at a childs play ground. Now theses places make great trials courses. They can be technicle in some places and easy in others.
Tim brought along his Hawyes Signature frame to show us a thing or two. I tell you he is damn good. He said "I'm just going to warm up" and did a ride up to the top of a slide. Wow, pretty good for a warm up. Its easy he says sliding back down it on his back wheel making it look like a childs play thing (even though it was). He has the balls of Ashton and Hawyes put together. He is almost like a Chris Akrigg at 14 years old.
Next he gets up a wooden slope, backhops around 360° and hops back off to the bottom. Me and my mate were just sat there with our mouths wide open. He get back and says "Do you want a go!" as if it was a little joke or something. Do you really think I am that silly!
In the park there is a log that is connected in the middle to two supports and rotates around. We said to him in the joking style, have a go on the swiveling log. So what does he do, gets on his bike and rides across it with no trouble at all.
Some of the stuff he did was easy enough for us to have a go at with Tim helping us along to way. Talk about a fun day with trials. It was almost like a very own Martyn Ashton living across the street. We said what else have you got to show us.
There is a wooden boarder around the edge of the park with a concrete circle in the middle. He gets up onto the thin wooden boarder and balances for a couple of seconds, Hops to his back wheel and does to biggest and highest backhop I have ever seen and gets right on the bench, then hops to the next bench. There you go. When he hops it is like he has an engine hidden in the back of his bike helping him up. It really shows us up!!
After that there is nothing we like more than a quick ride into the village to find some more trials. Bliss!!
Where will we end up next month. You'll just have to wait and see!!
