Downhill bike setup
Down hill bikes are the complete opposite to Trials bikes. They weigh a ton!!! Well actually around 59kg!
There are a lot of things that you have to have to be a Downhiller.
Well you need a long travel bike with triple clamp suspension forks like this one just here, the Spooky Project-X. It has around 7-8 inches of travel, which will soak up even the biggest rock and bump!! You need brakes, hydraulic disks are a must, not v-brakes or anything!!! You need to be in the large chain ring with a chain tensioner. That's about it.
A full blown Downhill bike would set you back about £3000 but don't worry, if you get sponsored you get all the gear free anyway!!!
There are a few things a rider needs too. Body armour to protect the body and a full face helmet. No other helmets, must be full face and you will also need knee and shin pads so you can keep your skin on your knees. Gloves are a good idea too.
Happy downhilling.
