Forks
The new
fork from Marzocchi is set to be a big hit with MTB'ers everywhere.
The new Marzocchi Bomber RAC is set around the upside down leg
idea first created by White Bro's. With no V brake mount you have
to run these forks with disks but that doesn't matter that much
because if you can afford the forks then you can afford the disk
too. With 100mm of travel it makes this fork good for all sorts
of different riding styles. It is not going to be a cheap fork (£700)
but it is definitely a good fork to buy!
Marzocchi
must have been very busy as they are also going to bring out
another new fork in the next few months. The new Marzocchi Shiver
is different from all the other forks made by Marzocchi. It is
not in the bomber range but in a group of its own. It is intended
for downhill uses only and is only available in triple clamp
version at the moment. . Keep your eye on this page as I will
give you more info on the Shiver as I get it.
Unbelievable as it
seems, Marzocchi are going to launch more forks. The Bomber Z2
Atom 80 is a cracking little fork. At the moment there is only
200 in the country and only 20 with the new sparkly red paintwork
so if you want one then you better hurry up. It weighs only 1.5kg
which is not bad for a coil/oil damped fork offering 80mm of
travel. The lower legs are forged BAM material and bonded into
the distinctive M shaped brace. External spring adjustments and
and preload give it a sense of first rate performance. The
moulded brace gives plenty of mud clearance and strength with V-brakes.
The well awaited RockShox Psylo fork has still not got an exact release date but I can tell you it will be worth the wait. The new tested Psylo fork has 80 to 125mm of travel with a re-bound and lock out adjuster on the top of the leg. With coil/oil damping it makes this fork very soft indeed. With a very nice gold paintwork it will be on of the best Rockshox forks on the market. More news on the fork as I get it.
RST 2001 forks are a big hit too as it seems with samples being sent to mags all over the country. Zoobits new RST SDK air plus is a very nice new version of the popular forks. They're one of the only RST forks that have air shock canisters like in the Manitou X-verts. I have no idea about these forks but I hope to get more details on them soon. Again more news as I get it.
A good pair of ridged
forks worthy of trials are hard to find nowadays with suss forks
out
and all that. DMR have solved the problem with
the DMR Sidekick forks. They are light and strong enough for
trials but won't last a very long time. If you are intending on
using them for hardcore trials them it is suggested that you
replace them every 6-7 months. Now because for this they are not
as expensive as one might think. They are only around £50-60 so
they are easily affordable! Apart from the Cannondale Fatty forks
these are quite possibly the best trials/jump/street fork around

We all know that Rockshox make some of the best cross-country forks around. Well the Sid SL Dual air is no exception. Another one of RockShox great forks. They come in 63 or 80mm travel. The forks feature the new C3 dual adjustable air cartridges which allow compression and re-bound adjustability. It is also possible to set the main and negative spring pressure to suit you so the forks will respond as you want it. They are quite possibly the GREATEST crosscounty forks in the world. They may seem a bit pricey at first but when you buy then you will understand why they are £425!!
